ChinaChina is a type of porcelain that is made of translucent white material. Although the terms china and porcelain are used interchangeably, there are differences between the two. China is also called tender porcelain and is fired at a lower temperature of 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit (1,204 degrees Celsius), while true porcelain is fired at 2,650 degrees Fahrenheit (1,454 degrees Celsius) that makes it hard. China is used frequently for making decorative household items. These include plates with elegant designs, flower vases, showpieces, etc. The china that is used for kitchen wares is bone china, as this china is hard to chip and is sturdier than hard porcelain. Bone china originated in Britain and is primarily made of bone ash. One can find a wide variety in bone china dinnerware, apart from kettles and cups. Some of the varieties include Fruits de Soleil 12 Piece Set Bone China, Breakfast Cup and Saucer Bone China, Bone China Plate designed with a ship, etc. Some of the popular antiques include blue and white china wares. These originated in China, and the European wares designs continue to draw heavy influences from them. The painting on these wares is usually done by hand. Some of the popular designs include willow pattern and blue white dragon eyes. |
