Lamps

The term ‘lamp’ is generally used with reference to a device that produces light and heat. They are often used for decorating homes and offices on a day-to-day basis or on some special occasion like festivals. The various types of lamps include table lamps, floor lamps, and safety lamps. Lamps generally have stands that are made up of wood, brass, chrome, steel or other metal. They often come with incandescent bulbs as the light source and a power supply connection.

Table lamps are sometimes referred to as “desk lamps”. These desk lamps often feature short metal stands that have elegant designs carved on them. With a height of two to three feet, these lamps are designed to be placed on flat surfaces that can provide the necessary support at the base. Sometimes table lamps come with dimmer switches that facilitate the control of the brightness of the illumination. These lamps are usually placed on study tables in the dining room or the bedroom. Table lamps can appear more elegant and beautiful with the aid of colourful lamp shades. These lamp shades generally feature aesthetically pleasing designs such as floral prints and oriental art styles. Old oil lamps are often purchased for their vintage value.
