Anne RiceAnne Rice is an American novelist, popular as a best selling author of the horror genre and religion-themed books. Anne Rice is well-known for her stories on Vampires. She is one of the most read authors of the modern era, with more than 100 million copies of her books sold worldwide. Happily married to the poet Stan Rice for 41 years, she went into a severe depression after his death in 2002. Anne Rice was born on October 4, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Having completed her Master of Arts degree in creative writing, she wrote her first book “Interview with the Vampire” in 1973. This novel was followed by a series of Vampire Chronicles including “The Vampire Lestat” and “The Queen of the Damned”. She has also written adult-oriented fiction under the pen name Anne Rampling, as well as penned explicit sado-masochistic erotica under the pseudo name A.N. Roquelaure. Her works are known to be very descriptive with the characters possessing homoerotic tendencies towards each other. Through the Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice tried to explore the bisexuality in her characters. Her writing also had philosophical undercurrents and historical themes.
