Blue Peter“Blue Peter” is a popular children’s television series broadcast both on Children's BBC and on CBBC Channel. Created by John Hunter Blair, the series was first telecast on the 16th of October, 1958. It was initially broadcast on an experimental basis for seven weeks in the “Children's Television” slot. The show lasted only for 15 minutes with two hosts demonstrating for children. The series mainly revolved around items on train sets and toys for boys and dolls for girls. It was combined with stories of a little white elephant known as Packi. With increasing popularity and changing times, timings of the programme have been increased from 15 minute to 25 minutes. The creator John Hunter retired two years after producing the show due to declining health. He died at home whilst watching his own show. The popular episodes from the series are still broadcast live. Almost all the episodes of the show have been archived at the BBC archives since 1964. By the same year, the “Blue Peter” book was introduced and released every year thereafter. The book features highlights from the previous twelve months of the show as well as snippets about the Summer Expedition, the annual appeal, and popular guests who visit the studio.
The simple winning format of the show has made it a huge favourite among all age groups. Blue Peter merchandise is very popular among children such as Blue Peter game, Blue Peter books and Blue Peter badges. The movie’s videos in CD and DVD formats are available at several online stores. |
