Dan BrownDan Brown is an American author, widely acknowledged for his controversial novel, The Da Vinci Code. Dan Brown had tried his hand in a musical career before he became a novelist. In 1991, Brown moved to Hollywood to pursue his ambitions of becoming a singer-songwriter and pianist. By 1993, Dan Brown and his wife moved to New Hampshire and he became an English teacher. Brown became a full-time author in 1996. His first novel was Digital Fortress, which was released in 1998. Angels & Demons was his second novel, which was launched in 2000. This was followed by Deception Point (2001). However, none of these books created any stir having sold less than 10,000 copies initially. However, the release of his fourth novel, "The Da Vinci Code", changed the course of things. The thriller topped the New York Times Bestseller List in the first week of its release, in 2003. Da Vinci Code is known to be one of the most popular books of all time and has already recorded sales of 60.5 million copies worldwide. The novel’s success has also inspired a movie that released in 2006. The movie was directed by Ron Howard and starred Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon and Audrey Tautou as Sophie Nevue.
