Danielle Steel, an author of romance and drama novels has mesmerised the world with her writings. She was born on 14 August, 1947 in New York City in a wealthy family. She had a keen interest in writing since childhood. Danielle Steel graduated from the Lycée Français de New York and then later joined the Parsons School of Design. Soon, she quit the design school and joined the New York University and studied there till 1967. She started working with a Manhattan based public relations and advertising agency in 1968. One of her clients was impressed with her press releases and advised her to take up writing.

Danielle Steel’s first novel, Going Home was published in 1973 by Dell paperbacks. Since the debut of her first novel, there has been no looking back for Danielle Steel. She has written numerous best-selling novels and over 560 million copies of her books have been sold till date. Her books are read in around 47 countries and have been translated in 28 languages. 21 Danielle Steel books have been made into television series. She has written books on varied subjects like kidnapping, mental illness, suicide, death, divorce, adoption, marriage and cancer, among others.
