DaredevilDaredevil is one of the great superheroes from Marvel Comics. The Daredevil character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett in Daredevil vol.1 in the month of April, 1964. Daredevil was worked upon by many legendary comic book artists such as Jack Kirby, Wally Wood, John Romita Sr., and Gene Colan, however it wasn’t until Frank Miller's contribution in the late 1970’s that the Daredevil comic series grew popular. The Daredevil story begins with a young Irish-American boy named Matthew Murdock, whose ex-boxer father called "Battling Jack" Murdock raised him single-handedly, after his mother left them both in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City. Matt has a troubled childhood and is branded by the school kids with the nickname “Daredevil”. He is known to release his frustration by training in secret. Matt is involved in an accident while saving a blind man from the path of an oncoming truck. This accident exposes him to some radioactive material which renders him blind, but also heightens his other senses to a level far greater than any ordinary person. A mysterious blind man by the name of Stick mentors Matt and teaches him to control his heightend sense of power. He also learns how to create a mental image of the things around him. Eventually he develops a “radar sense”, which makes up for this loss of sight. Matt grows up and sets up a law firm with his best friend and college roommate Franklin "Foggy" Nelson and secretary Karen Page. Daredevil then embarks on a range of adventures that involve villains such as Owl, Stilt-Man, the Gladiator, the Enforcers, the Black Widow, and Bullseye.Over the years the popularity of Daredevil has grown tremendously, with people all over the world. Daredevils ovewhelming popularity saw it becoming an instant hollywood blockbuster when it was released in 2003. |
