EncyclopediaAn encyclopedia is a collection that gives the reader concise information on almost all the fields and branches of knowledge. One will find information on topics relating to science, nature, human body, animals, birds, space, planets or any other form living or dead in an encyclopedia. All these topics also include bibliography, illustrations, etc. These encyclopedia collections were first released in the 18th century and were developed from dictionaries. Since the dictionary only provided limited information on subjects and mainly concentrated on the meaning of words and sentences, there was a need for knowing more on certain topics. And thus the encyclopaedia came into being. Since then the encyclopaedia has been a popular compendium with students, teachers and others all over the world. Many scholars and well-educated experts from various fields redeveloped various versions of the encyclopaedia. Some encyclopaedias could provide information in general and on all fields like the “Encyclopedia Britannica” again some other could provide information on a particular subject like “Medical Encyclopaedia”, which gives information on diseases, their treatments and so on. Various encyclopaedia like Encyclopaedia of the Unexplained, by Reuben Stone, Encyclopedia of Cage and Aviary Birds 1986 and The Encyclopaedia of Executions in 20th Century Britain, among others are available on sale on many online shopping portals. |
