FHMFHM or For Him Magazine is an international monthly magazine for men produced by media giants EMAP. FHM publishes a list of the "100 Sexiest Women In The World" annually based on votes cast by their readers. First published in 1985 in the United Kingdom, the magazine was founded by Chris Astridge. It was primarily a fashion–based magazine distributed in high street men’s outlets. By the spring of 1987 circulation expanded to newsagents as a quarterly. competition from rival fashion magazines like James Browns ‘Loaded’, ‘Esquire’, ‘GQ’ called for a makeover of FHM. It was during this time in 1994, that the magazine name was changed from For Him to FHM. Consequently it made an international magazine sell as a monthly issue. In keeping with the competition with the expanding market, FHM began to publish a sports supplement. 28 editions have been published per month as of January 2007 globally. The magazine contains pictures of singers and actresses with editorials about them for reasons other than their beauty or craft. FHM is stocked in the lifestyle segments of newsstands. During the mid to late nineties FHM became one of the largest selling magazine. Towards the end of the nineties the magazine switched to celebrity oriented editorials with the fall of the lad culture, which was the main selling point of the magazine. December 2006 saw FHM in a full digital format with FHM online being launched. FHM is available on websites in different countries. FHM TV a ‘music television station’ is in the UK. |
