Lee ChildLee Child, a thriller author, was born in Coventry, England in 1954. Child worked as a presentation director for many years at Granada Television. Some of the shows that he has done include Brideshead Revisited, Jewel in the Crown, Prime Suspect, and Cracker. He worked for several commercials, news stories, and trailers and, in all, for more than 40,000 hours of programming. In one of the restructuring exercises undertaken by his company, Lee Child lost his job. Lee looked at this as an opportunity and took to writing. His first novel was Killing Floor, which was launched in 1997. The novel won the Anthony Award and Barry Award. The success of the novel inspired a series based on the adventures of American Policeman, Jack Reacher, who is in the U.S. Reacher was born in a military base in Berlin, in 1960, and he leaves home at the age of 18. He joins U.S. Military Academy, where he serves as a military policeman. Reacher is tall, at 6'5" (1.96m), has blue eyes and fair hair. Reacher heads a 110th Special Investigations Unit, which solves tough cases. In his career span, Reacher also goes through a demotion, where he becomes Captain from Major. However, by the time he musters out, he has regained the rank of a major. Without Fail, Die Trying, Persuader, The Hard Way, Bad Luck and Trouble, One Shot and Tripwire are some of the other novels featuring Reacher. |
