Nora RobertsNora Roberts born in Silver Spring, Maryland, the only daughter and the youngest of five children, is a bestselling American author of more than 150 novels. She writes suspense novels as J.D. Robb, and romance novels under the pseudonyms Sarah Hardesty and Jill March. Other authors jokingly refer to Roberts as “The Nora” and attribute a strong female figure in romance novels to Roberts’ ability to develop characters and tell a good story. Nora Roberts began writing during a blizzard in February 1979 when she was snowed in with her two children. Her first novel, Irish Thoroughbred, appeared in 1981. She met her second husband, Bruce Wilder, when she hired him to build bookshelves for her. Roberts is famously prolific –in 1996 she passed the 100-novel mark with Montana Sky. Since 1999, every one of Nora Roberts’s novels has been a New York Times bestseller. In 2007, she was named as one of the 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine. She was the first author to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. There are more than 294 million copies of Nora Roberts’ books in print. Over the last 25 years, an average of 21 Nora Roberts books were sold every minute. Her latest book, High Noon, will be out in July 2007. Her books, Angels Fall, Blue Smoke, Carolina Moon and Montana Sky, are now Lifetime Original Movies. |
