ShootShoot, also known as Shoot Monthly, is a monthly UK football magazine. The magazine is published by the media giant IPC Media. The magazine’s annual gift, the "Shoot League Ladders", was a massive hit amongst all soccer fans at the time. This comprised of a thin card sheet which had printed black league tables for each division of the Football League. These League Ladders helped fans keep track of each team and their standings in the League table. Shoot began in 1969 as a weekly publication which was primarily targeted at teenage soccer fans. Shoot was renowned for its quality of articles and news stories encompassing every aspect of the English and Scottish football scenes. Its "Star Writer" feature was a big hit amongst soccer enthusiasts, as every season featured a selection of star first-division footballers who were signed up to write columns. "Star Writer" featured superstars such as Kevin Keegan, Bryan Robson and Charlie Nicholas. The current monthly issue still features articles by football heavyweights such as Joe Cole and Danny Mills. For a number of years Shoot was a regular feature in Paul Trevillion's famous comic strip ‘You are the Ref’. Till date, Shoot has the highest number of player interviews as compared to any other football magazine. Shoot is probably one of UK’s most popular football magazines ever. Since its launch until the 1990s, Shoot was one of the highest selling weekly magazines in this market segment. It was later changed to a monthly issue in the late 1990s. Many erstwhile youngsters have grown up with Shoot by their side, is the reason why it is also a hot favourite amongst older football fans. |
