Terry PratchettBorn in England, Terry Pratchett is a well-known author, renowned for the Discworld series. He was a best-selling author of the nineties decade in the UK. His works have been translated in as many as 33 languages. Terry Pratchett was a prodigious author who started at the age of 13 and had his first book published commercially by the age of 15. For his services to literature, Terry had also been named as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1998. Terry Pratchett’s first novel was Carpet People that was launched in 1971. The Colour of Magic was the first Discworld novel and was published in 1983. The Discworld series are comedy fantasy books, which have been a success since the time they were first published. The events in these books take place in Discworld, a flat world that’s balanced on the back of four elephants who are standing on the back of Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle. There have been as many as 36 Discworld novels as of 2006. Some of Terry Pratchett's titles include Equal Rites, Mort, Pyramids, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, The Wee Free Men, etc. Terry Pratchett is a prolific author writing two books a year on an average. Other works of Terry include the Johnny Maxwell Trilogy, the Bromeliad Trilogy and The Dark Side of the Sun. Most of his novels are also available as audio books. |
