Tom Clancy

Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. popularly known as Tom Clancy is a US based author of some of the world’s best-selling political thrillers. He is renowned for his detailed technical espionage and military science based thrillers. His storylines are set during and post the Cold War. Tom Clancy has written a series of non-fiction books based on the U.S. Armed Forces and also combined biographies of important political leaders.

Tom Clancy was born on the 12th of April, 1947 in Baltimore County, in Maryland. He graduated in 1965 from Loyola Blakefield in Towson, Maryland. Tom then went on to study English Literature at Loyola College in Baltimore, graduating in the year, 1969. Before Tom Clancy began his illustrous literary career, he ran his own insurance business. Tom Clancy’s first novel, ‘The Hunt for Red October’ was released in 1984, where his most famous character Jack Ryan features for the first time. His other famous character John Clark first appears in his 1988 release, ‘The Cardinal of the Kremlin’.Tom Clancy’s Novels such as ‘The Hunt for Red October’, ‘Patriot Games’, ‘Clear and Present Danger’, and ‘The Sum of All Fears’ have been made into blockbuster Hollywood films. His latest book, ‘The Teeth of the Tiger’ released in 2003, wherein Jack Ryan's son and two nephews are introduced as the next generation main characters.

Tom Clancy is part-owner of the Major League Baseball team, Baltimore Orioles. He is the official Vice Chairman of Community Projects and Public Affairs for Orioles. In the year 1996, Tom Clancy co-founded the computer game developer Red Storm Entertainment, which has since then included his name on the titles of some of their most popular games.
