3 PhaseThe 3 Phase electric power is a polyphase system that distributes alternating current electric power for powering motors and other devices. It is a popular system of electric power transmission and is often used in the industrial sector. Three circuit conductors bear three alternating currents with the same frequency in a 3 Phase system. These three alternating currents do not attain their instantaneous peak values at the same time. There is a deliberate delay between the phases of transmission that result in continuous power transfer through each cycle of the current. This delay also generates a rotating magnetic field in the electric motor. The phase currents in a 3 Phase system tend to cancel each other so that the neutral conductor otherwise required could be eliminated. This method of transmission also results in a balanced load as the phase conductors carry the same current and could be of identical size. There is less vibration in motors and generators when there is a three-phase method of distribution. The 3 Phase system is preferable to other systems because of all these benefits. Three phase motors and three phase transformers are commonly found in factories across the UK. Different models of 3 Phase induction motors could be purchased online and from several shops in this country. |
