Aluminium

Aluminium is a soft, light-weight, ductile and malleable metal. This silver-colored metal was found and named by Sir Humphry Davy in 1808. The metal is the third most copious element found in the earth’s bowels. Its mass value adds up to 7.3%. Aluminium presence is found in other materials like silicates and bauxite ore. Aluminium is popularly used in numerous industrial and commercial applications. The main advantage of aluminium is that it is extremely light-weight and can resist corrosion. Aluminium and alloys made from aluminium are used to make structural components that are used in the aerospace and construction industry. It is extremely strong, which makes it a preferred material in road, sea, and rail transportation industry.

Aluminium is also used for water treatment as it removes harmful organisms and materials from the water. It is also used for packaging in the form of foils and cans. The aluminium foils and cans provide protection to the food and beverages from ultra-violet light, foul odors and bacteria. These aluminium packaging materials are hygienic and recyclable. Aluminium is also used to make cooking utensils. It can retain up to 93 percent of the heat, thus cooking food quickly.

Aluminium is also used in household construction and wiring. Aluminium windows and frames are used in homes as they are sturdy and reliable. Even, aluminium fence is the preferred choice as it is resistant to corrosion and hence, durable. Today, aluminium furniture is also available and aluminium garden furniture is quite popular.
