Concrete Mixer

One quintessential at any construction site is the concrete mixer. It is a machine that helps in homogenising cement, aggregate, sand or gravel with water to form concrete. The basic component of any given concrete mixer is a revolving drum, which mixes all the components. Another use of a concrete mixer is to prevent concrete from drying, resulting in hardening of the concrete. Basically, this machine is available in a variety of sizes. For example, on construction sites where the volume of concrete to be used is lesser, a portable concrete mixer would be preferable. On the other hand, when the use of concrete is humongous, a truck-like concrete mixer is used.

A concrete mixer used at an industrial standard has twin-shaft batch mixer, which produces high quality mixer. This mixer enables the user to achieve almost 95% homogeneity in only around 30 seconds. The concrete is then transferred to the given location in a concrete transport truck. Concrete remains in liquid form until it reaches the destination because of constant agitation of the barrel.

Interestingly, the appearance of concrete mixer is not restricted to construction sites alone. Concrete mixers have found their place in cartoons and television too. For example, in a popular cartoon series “Bob the Builder” concrete mixer is christened Dizzy, who is an eager, curious female; whereas in “Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends”, Patrick is a personified concrete mixer.
