FergusonThe Ferguson-Brown Company, also known as Ferguson, is a reputed manufacturer of high-performance tractors. Harry Ferguson established the company in the mid-1930s along with David Brown. A hydraulic system designed by Ferguson was used in the Model A Ferguson-Brown tractor. Ferguson system tractors were made in collaboration with Ford Motor Company after an agreement signed in 1938. The Model TE20 (Tractor, England 20 horsepower) was introduced by Ferguson after World War II. Popularly referred to as the Little Grey Fergie, the Ferguson TE20 went on to have many variants that ran on petrol. These were known as the TEA20. Subsequently, Ferguson introduced the TED20 model which used TVO for fuel. This was followed by the TEF20 model that ran on diesel. The TEB20 and the TEC20 had narrow wheels so that they could be used in orchards and vineyards. The 3-Point linkage was the key feature of the Ferguson system. The Ferguson tractors used single-wheel brakes for quick manoeuvring, as the inside wheel could be braked. Ferguson and Massey-Harris merged in the year 1953, and Massey-Harris-Ferguson, became the maker of tractors and other equipments. Grey Ferguson tractors are among the most popular tractors that are sought after for their high performance. |
