LiftingThere are numerous instances when goods need to be transferred from one location to another. Sometimes these objects cannot be moved through human strength alone. This is where the varied lifting equipment comes into play. Commonly lifting devices used in both indoor and outdoor locations include cranes, hoists, manhole cover lifters, pallet trucks, forklift trucks and suction cup lifters, among many others. These lifting products come in varied sizes and have lifting capacities ranging from around 50 kilograms to as much as a few tonnes. Cranes and hoists can be powered either manually or through pneumatic and hydraulic means. While pneumatic machines work through the energy contained in compressed air, hydraulic cranes are powered by pressurised water. Pallet trucks have a reinforced forked right-angular frontal appendage. When using pallet trucks, usually the items are enclosed in a crate. The lower ends of fork are slipped under the crate’s bottom. Thereupon, the entire lifting apparatus is raised, lifting the load along with it. With the control of the truck as well as the forks being in the hands of the driver, the load can be relocated to any area of choice. Manhole and drain covers are built for strength and durability as an open hole can be very dangerous on the road for both vehicles and pedestrians. From this reason it can be understood that these covers are very heavy and, correspondingly, the hoists used to lift these covers need to be powerful as well. |
