MitutoyoFounded by Yehan Numata on October 22, 1934, Mitutoyo Corporation manufactures and distributes precision measuring instruments. This company has it's base located in Kawasaki, Japan. In 1934, a research laboratory was set up by Numata in Tokyo for manufacturing mechanical micrometers. Soon, the company expanded it's product range to include instruments like indicators, callipers and other precision measurement devices. Digital and electronic measurement devices were added to the range of products in the 1970s. By this time, a wide array of equipment included bigger, sophisticated and more sensitive measuring devices like form measuring equipment, coordinate measuring instruments and optical comparators. When the science of metrology became popular, Mitutoyo introduced such products as data collectors, output gauges and analysis software in the market. This company benefited with the arrival of computer technology and incorporated it so that measuring accuracies were brought to the sub-micron range. Nowadays, Mitutoyo offers over 6000 computer-based metrology systems, which are integrated and capable of interconnection to develop efficient networks. This company still focuses on creating advanced measurement devices and systems with the aid of innovative technologies. Old Mitutoyo Vernier models are much sought after due to their vintage value. There is also a strong demand for Mitutoyo digital micrometer models. |
