PaslodeA division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) and manufacturer of cordless and pneumatic fastening, Paslode, was established by industrialist, J.W. Leslie, in 1935. The nail guns and the fastening tools manufactured by the company are widely used in construction and industrial applications. The first tool introduced by Paslode was a light duty upholstery tacker. Paslode followed up by introducing a pneumatic nailer and The Gun-Nailer. The Impulse, the first cordless power framing nailer, revolutionised the concept of nailers. This innovation offered pneumatic power without the use of hoses. Moreover, the tool also offered safety, manoeuvrability and versatility with combustion motor. Another milestone in the company’s evolution was developing a cordless finishing nailer, the IM250 F, in 1991. The nailer had an additional advantage that it could be used in tight spaces. This device was specially designed for trim applications. The concept of nailers was refined when Paslode introduced the PowerMaster, in 1995. This one offered more power per pound, making it a new generation pneumatic nailer. The Wood-to-Steel Fastening System, introduced in 1996, was fashioned to secure wood sheathing to steel studs. The ergonomically designed grip was a key feature of this powerful utility tool. Besides pneumatic and cordless nail guns, the company manufactures various other types of fasteners for use with Paslode tools. For example, the ProStrip is a type of paper tape that combines with the nailer to provide better holding power and minimises the flying debris. Other tools such as the TLN, the first corrosion resistant fastener and FloorGrip (for residential subfloor) are designed for residential construction. |
