StanleyThe Stanley Works is an American company that manufactures household goods, tools and hardware. The company has adopted the slogan – “Make Something Great”. The company is currently headquartered in New Britain, Connecticut, USA. Frederick Trent Stanley founded Stanley's Bolt Manufactory in 1843 and his cousin, Henry Stanley founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company in 1857; both the companies were merged together in 1920 to form Stanley Works. Stanley is well-known across the globe for its range of hand planes, saws, rulers, try squares, chisels, screwdrivers and other such household hand tools. The company has a strong tradition of innovation and between 1997 and 2001 the company introduced 400 new products. The Stanley Works was awarded the Golden Hammer Award for New Product Innovation in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Some of the more notable innovations made by Stanley are the Bailey plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape measure, the Stanley knife and the FatMax line of tools. Stanley also manufactures and supplies PoziDriv (improved Phillips look alike) screwdrivers. The Stanley brand has been widely licensed by various companies and products sold under the “Stanley” name include shoes, clothing, lawn & garden tractors, etc. |
