306Peugeot, a French automobile manufacturing company, launched Peugeot 306 in 1993 as a small family car. The car was launched as a replacement for the Peugeot 309 model. Peugeot 306 was available as a 3- door or 5-door hatchback, 4-door saloon, 5-door estate and also as a 2-door cabriolet. The 306 Phase 1 model had a similar design as the Citroen ZX car, launched by Citroen, which is a sister concern of Peugeot. Initially, the 306 was launched as 3-door/5-door hatchback models, with all the other models being released later. This car was introduced in both petrol and diesel versions and had a front wheel drive design that featured beautiful body styling. The 306 petrol version used a 4-cylinder engine which was available in 1.4L and 1.6L options. The Peugeot 306 Diesel car was very popular in Europe and was sold with both turbocharged and normally-aspirated engines. The 1.9L turbocharged version of Peugeot 306 gained popularity for exceptional handling characteristics. Some of the other high performance models like the Peugeot GTI-6 and the D-Turbo S (diesel) were also released by Peugot. In 1997, the 306 model underwent significant changes and its second phase, the Peugeot 306 Phase 2 was launched. It featured new lights, grille and bumpers and sported the new “block filled” Peugeot lion logo. The Peugeot 306 was phased out completely, in 2002. |
