Aston MartinAston Martin Lagonda Limited builds one of the finest of luxury sports cars in the world. Its headquarters are located at Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. The company derives its name from the Aston Clinton hill climb where it won its very first motorsport race and Lionel Martin, was one of its founders. Lionel Martin together with Robert Bamford established the company in 1913. Since then, Aston Martin has proved to be an immense success on the racetrack with models like the 1929 Aston Martin International, Le Mans and Ulster. 1936 saw Aston Martin venturing into road cars after David Brown bought the company, which saw the launch of the classic ‘DB’ series of Aston Martin cars in the late 1950s. The Aston Martin has attained iconic status especially in British cinema. The DB5 first appeared in Goldfinger (1964), which marked Aston Martin’s long term association with James Bond films. In the latest James bond film ‘Casino Royale’, James Bond drives the classic DB5 and the latest DBS. Two models have been the most popular in the UK and international markets- the Aston Martin Vanquish and the Aston Martin DB9. The Vanquish is deemed by the company as the ‘Ultimate Aston Martin’, with traditional styling blended with modern automotive technology. The DB9 is a pure sports car for the road with a 6.0liter V12 that produces 335KW and 570 Nm of torque. |
