AudiAudi AG is a German automobile manufacturer with the famous “Four Ring” symbol. The symbol was designed to portrait an amalgamation of DKW, Horch, and Wanderer with Audi. Horch has its significance during the World War II; when the Horch/Auto Union manufactured an armoured car, Sd-Kfz 222, to support the army. Audi is almost (99.7%) owned by the Volkswagen Group since 1964. However, the company’s existence can be traced to 1899. Audi manufactures consumer models, racing models as well as concept cars. A-Series, R-Series and S-Series are popular models across the categories. Audi cars have been winners on many racing tracks. One of the most famous Audi racing automobiles was the Quattro, an all wheel drive with turbocharged engine, which won almost all the races and rallies across the globe in the year 1980. Audi cars went on to dominate Monte Carlo and Sweden races in 1984. The saga of winning continued in 1990s when Audi not only proved victorious in the Touring and Super Touring categories of motor racing, but also tasted success in circuit racing at Stateside. This German manufacturer is careful about the quality – so much so, that it produces 100% galvanized vehicles for preventing corrosion and uses fully coated zinc body for avoiding rust. Another quality oriented technology used by Audi was the “all-aluminium” concept in the 2001 edition of the Audi A2. The Audi A5 is the latest introduction and is available as a 2-door coupe with front engine and 6-speed manual transmission. |
