BMW E36The BMW E36 platform was the basis of the BMW 3 Series entry-level luxury car/compact executive car. This BMW car was available as a 4 door sedan. Begun in 1991, production of this car was stopped in 1999; it was replaced by the BMW E46. There were four models, namely the 316i, the 318i, the 320i and the 325i. The six-cylinder models featured a new 24-valve engine from the E34 5 series, while the four-cylinder models were equipped with the M40 engine from the E30 3 series. The 325td, which was introduced in 1991, featured a six-cylinder diesel engine with 115 HP. The new coupe was introduced in 1992 and available as the 318is, the 320i and the 325i. Although the 318is had the same 16-valve engine as the E30, it had 140 HP. The 325tds and the 325i convertible came in 1993. The 325TDs had almost the same features as the 325td, apart from the intercooler. The E36 M3, introduced in 1992, was the sports version of the popular compact BMW 3-Series automobile. 1994 saw the launch of the 318i, the 320i convertible as well as the new compact. The 3 series touring was also introduced and available as the 318i, the 320i, the 328i, the 318tds and the 325tds. The 323i was launched in 1996 as a sedan, coupe and touring car. The 323ti compact was launched in 1997 and featured six cylinders with 170 HP. |
