BMW MiniThe BMW M5 is a high-performance sedan or touring automobile, which is a part of the BMW 5-Series created by BMW M GmbH. Since its launch, a progression of M5 versions have emerged including the E28, E34, E39, E60 and more recently the E61 5-Series. Launched in 2004, the E60 M5 is powered by a 5.0 L BMW V10 S85 engine and runs at a maximum 8250 RPM, producing optimum output of 507 PS (373 kW, 500 SAE hp) and 383 ft-lbs of torque. It runs zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Its top speeds are 280 km/h (175 mph) (electronic limited), 315 km/h (195 mph) (electronic limited option that can be upgraded), and 334+ km/h (206+ mph) (no electronic limiter). It is built with a sturdy aluminium chassis and a 7-speed SMG III electro hydraulic manual transmission. The car has an exclusive feature of a ‘power button’ on the steering wheel labelled "M". This button provides access to three driving modes: P400 for daily driving use which reduces the horsepower to 400; P500 that utilizes the engine’s full 507 hp and P500 S for optimum power and sharper throttle response. The latest version of the M5 is the model released in 2007 called the E61. It is the second Touring model after the E34. It shares similar interior features and controls like its Sedan fraternal. The car offers leather seating, split rear seat backrest and low-level loading sill. This model is currently on sale through most dealers. |
