BMW is a German manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles. The company was founded by Karl Friedrich Rapp in the year 1913. Initially, the company started out as an aircraft manufacturing company. The production of aircraft was prohibited in Germany after World War I, which led to the manufacturing of railway brakes. The company manufactured its first motorcycle, R32 in 1924 and later, its first car in 1927. The cars made by BMW are highly efficient, smooth, stylish and are a pleasure to drive. Today, the company has come a long way with a wide array of cars and motorcycles being manufactured.
The BMW Z3 was introduced in 1996 and was available as roadster and coupe. This car was launched after it was featured in GoldenEye, a James Bond movie. The manufacturing and assembling of Z3 was done in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This car was conceived from the E36 platform of the 3 Series. In the initial year, the car was manufactured with 1.9 L M44B19 straight-4 engine with a horsepower of 138. The year 1999 saw the replacement 1.9L 4-cylinder engine with 2.0L straight-6 in.
The engines and the interiors were revamped in 2001. The car was available as 2.2 L M54B22, 2.5 L M52B25, 3.0 L M54B30 and (for the M Roadster) 3.2 L S54B32. The production of BMW Z3 ended in 2002.
