BodykitA body kit, as the name suggests, is a collection of materials used for modifying the exteriors of a car. It is usually made of either fibreglasses or polyurethane, however there are carbon fiber body kits. A typical body kit would generally consist of front and rear bumpers (fenders), side skirts, and spoilers. The front and rear bumpers act as shock absorbers providing protection to the respective ends of the car and spoilers reduce aerodynamic drags and increase traction during acceleration to provide smooth free-flow driving. Skirting helps divert and control the amount of air passing through the underside of the car; this improves the down force and provides stability to the car. Professional body work experts usually recommend fiberglass bodykits because it is damage resistant and is not affected by cold weather. It is made from plastic resin and synthetic fibre and is comparatively cheaper than carbon fibre. Carbon fibre body kits are generally made of light-weight materials and are not recommended for those speed enthusiasts who are rash drivers. |
