About Box Trailer

A box trailer is an un-powered unit with rear-door loading that is attached to a powered vehicle in order to transport goods. There are many uses for the box trailer, and consequently there are many models available, from small trailers intended for recreational use, to lorries and trucks that transport very heavy loads, to mobile homes and caravans. The box trailer is the most common type of trailer and is available in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and capacities. Many people purchase smaller trailers that can hook onto the back of a car for camping trips, car boot fairs or for transporting heavy goods from the shops, such as gardening materials or furniture. The smallest size generally available is 6x4ft, which is usually open-topped. There are a few things to look for when purchasing a box trailer. First off, if you're buying a heavy-duty dual-axel trailer, you'll need a heavy-duty vehicle to tow it. If you intend to use the trailer frequently, purchase a galvanised model to avoid the chance of rust. Ensure the trailer is deep enough for what you intend to use it for, and check the model has the type of door you require. Trailer breaks are necessary for trailers that can carry more than 750kg of goods. Look at the type of frame - box tubing is the best option - and always choose a trailer with a long tongue length. Check the coupler, tyres and tail lights are in excellent condition.
