C20XEThe C20XE is a petrol engine manufactured and used by General Motors and its subsidiaries. The C20XE engine was used in some of the very popular car models produced by General Motors, such as the Vauxhall Nova GTE, Opel Astra, Corsa C20XE and Opel Calibra. The C20XE was a high-performance car engine and used in many of the racing variants of the General Motors cars. The C20XE is a 1998 cc (2.0 L), 16-valve, DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine which produces an output power of 110KW. The name of the engine is read in the following way: C - exhaust emissions level: ECE R 83 A, followed by 20 for 2.0 L, X – compression ratio – 10.0 – 11.5.1 and E – mixture system – injection. Its distinct appearance led it to be named the “Red Top”. Due to its power and excellent performance, the engine gathered a huge fan following and garnered rave reviews. It was instrumental in helping General Motors consolidate its market standing in Europe. Vauxhall and Opel are its European subsidiaries that have used the C20XE engine for their car models.
