Fiat SeicentoFiat automobiles introduced the Fiat Seicento in the year 1998, as a replacement model to the Fiat Cinquecento. The chassis of the Seicento was styled into a small, one body and angular 3-door hatchback car. The engine assembly featured a front-wheel displacement as an improvement over the rear-wheel drive Fiat 126. The Fiat Seicento was built in Fiat's factory in Bielsko-Biala, Poland and has sold 377,000 vehicles until Summer 2001. It was named in that manner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fiat 600, “Seicento” being the Italian word for the number “600”. The Fiat Seicento was available in three variants a basic 'S' with black bumpers and spartan equipment, a slightly upgraded version 'SX' model, with colour coded bumpers, electric windows and sunroof, which was also available as a 'Citymatic' with a manual gearchange, and a 'Sporting' version featuring 13" alloy wheels, sports seats and bodykit with optional Abarth 14" wheels and side skirts. The ford Seicento was made available with two engine choices; the first was a 899 cc OHV (29 kW / 40 PS) engine used in early Fiat Seicento S and Fiat Seicento SX models, and the 1108 cc FIRE (40 kW / 54 PS), used in the Fiat Seicento Sports version since its launch, and featured the newly introduced multi-point fuel injection system that allowed the car to perform better without compromising on fuel efficiency. A special edition of Fiat Seicento with a turbocharger and six-speed gearbox, was able to extract 101 PS (74 kW) from the 1242 cc FIRE engine and was crated by German tuner Novitec. |
