Land Rover SeriesThe Land Rover Series are different series of vehicles made by Land Rover, a reputed British vehicle manufacturer. Land Rover is famous for their sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). Established in 1948, this company manufactures plenty of vehicles at their Solihull production facility near Birmingham, England. Several of their four-wheel drive vehicles were called Land Rovers, although this term was mainly confined to a specific all-terrain vehicle released in the late 1940s. This model was designed by Maurice Wilks, and its styling was based on the jeep chassis. The Land Rovers are made of Birmabright, the anti-rust lightweight alloy of aluminium and magnesium. This strong alloy makes the Land Rover vehicles durable and tough for extensive and rough use. Various military and commercial models of the Land Rover are available. New Land Rover models include the Range Rover Sport, the Discovery/LR3, and the Freelander. Various series of Land Rover vehicles have been made such as the Land Rover Series 1, Land Rover Series 2a, and the Land Rover Series 3. The Land Rover Series models were off-road vehicles designed for tough use on different road surfaces. These vehicles featured a front engine and rear wheel drive. In 1948, the Series 1 Land Rover was a two-door or 4-door SUV, which featured the 1.6L or 2.0L I4 engine. The Series III Land Rover also offered a 3.5L V8 engine. There was an option of a 2-door pickup version for this Land Rover series. |
