Modified Saxo
Citroen Saxo is a supermini, which was produced by the French car maker Citroen between 1996 and 2003. It was launched in 1996 to replace the Citroen AX and shared its platform, engine, body design and appearance with the Peugeot 106. During Saxo’s lifetime, the trim levels and engine options changed many times. Initially the Saxo was available in the following trim versions: the Saxo First, Saxo Forte, Saxo Desire, Saxo Executive and Saxo Furio, all of which came with a choice of three engines: the 1.1 L and 1.4 L petrol and the 1.5 L naturally-aspirated diesel engine. The top of the line and sportier VTR and VTS variants featured a rear spoiler, which was later moulded to fit the outside rear windscreen instead of the other boot shell. The VTR used a 1.6 L, 90bhp eight-valve engine, which was later upgraded to 98bhp. The VTS version used a 120bhp version of the same engine. In 1999, the second generation Mk 2 Citroen Saxo was launched. All engines were now using multi-point injection systems, and witnessed an increase in power.
The Citroen Saxo is very popular among the boy racer and car enthusiast crowd. Modified Citroen Saxos are available on many online shopping portals. Modified Saxo VTR and VTS variants are extremely popular due to their sportier characteristics.
