Punto GTThe Fiat Punto car is larger than a city car but smaller than a small family car. It has been manufactured by Italian manufacturer Fait since 1993. The first-generation Punto cars were equipped with 1.1 and 1.2 L petrol engines and the 1.7 diesel engine. Various other versions of the Fiat Punto were manufactured; however, the best performing version was the Fiat Punto GT turbo that boasted a turbocharged 1.4L 128 SOHC engine, capable of running at 124 mph and reaching 60 mph in just 8.3 seconds. Later, the 1.1 and 1.4L Punto GT turbo versions were discontinued due to emissions issues. However, two sporty versions with 1.2 16 valve and 1.8 sporty versions were launched. The 1.8 HGT would produce an output of 130 mph with 0-60 in 8.6-second acceleration. The 2002 version of the Ford Punto GT was known as the Ford Punto HGT. It was a front-wheel drive with a 16 valve DOHC engine. It featured horsepower of 130.00 BHP (95.7 KW) @ 6300.00 RPM and performed at a top speed of 125 mph|201.1 km/h. This 3-door hatchback came with a seating capacity of four and a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. Fiat Punto has always been popular with professional racing drivers due to its affordable cost and the wide availability of spare parts. It has won many accolades in several rally championships including the Italian rally championship (2003 and 2006), the European rally championship (2006) and the International rally challenge (2006). |
