Saxo VtsIn 1996, the French car manufacturer Citroen (PSA) launched its supermini model, the Citroen Saxo. The Citreon Saxo VTS was a sports variant of the Saxo which was launched to replace the Citroen AX model. Featuring a 3/5 door hatchback body style, the Saxo was similar in looks to the Peugeot 106 car. The Saxo also shared the engine design with the Peugeot 106 model of Peugeot which was Citroen’s sister company. Some of the earlier models of the Citroen Saxo were Saxo First, Saxo Forte, Saxo Desire and Saxo Furio. The diesel variants of the Citroen Saxo were equipped with the 1.5L (non turbo) diesel engine whereas the petrol version of the Saxo models used either the 1.1L or the 1.4L engines. In 1999, the Citroen Saxo underwent some modifications and the MK 2 or the phase 2 version was introduced. Citroen put on sale the new Saxo VTS along with another sports variant, the Saxo VTR, which was equipped with a 1.6L eight valve engine. The Saxo VTS 16v was equipped with a 16v version of the same engine which was capable of producing an output of 120 BHP. The VTS was equipped with a standard passenger air bag along with side airbags. Additionally, it featured standard ABS along with an Air Conditioner. The Citroen Saxo VTS sported a rear spoiler which was later moulded to fit the outside rear windscreen. The Saxo is no longer in production since 2003; however, one can find a number of used Saxo VTS for sale online. |
