SeatA car seat usually consists of an armrest, backrest, headrest, seat base and seat track. The backrest has adjustable lumbar mechanisms that allow the passenger to change the shape of seat back to his or her comfort. Other adjustments on the car seat may also include backrest and headrest angles, cushion edge, headrest level, depth and height of the seat, changeable head support at the sides and fore-and-aft positions. The upper section of the backrest can be tilted forward for better shoulder support. Some car dealers provide along with car insurance a free child safety-seat or baby car seat. This seat can be secured onto the backseat of any car. It is available with safety seatbelts to keep the baby in place in case of an accident. Some car seats have memory settings, which can record the desired comfort settings of many drivers or even the different preferences of one driver. Selective car seats also come with climate control, which features seat warming and ventilation. Some of the latest car models, especially hatchbacks, have fold-down seating to increase cargo space. A recent innovation in car seating is the Active Comfort Seat. This seat is equipped with motors and hydraulic chambers at the base that move the seat up and down every 60 seconds by just 15 mm. The motion of these motors keeps the driver alert while driving. |
