T25The T25, also known as the Transporter or Caravelle in Europe, was a van built by Volkswagen between 1980 and 1991. The T25 was large and heavy. It replaced the rounded edges of its predecessor, the Microbus, with square corners. All the 1980 and some 1981 T25 models came with 8 welded-in metal slats that covered the engine ventilation passages behind the rear windows. Models that came later had black plastic 16-slat covers which were slotted in at the top and screwed down at the bottom. The VW T25 range had four general engine variants with several sub-models. The engine line-up included the 2.0 L 2000cc 67bhp air-cooled fuel injected flat-4, five 1.9 litre engines, three 2.1 litre engines and three diesel (1.6 L 48bhp, 1.6 L 70bph and 1.7 L 54bhp) engines. Except the diesel variants were all pushrod horizontally opposed engines. The later versions of the T25 came with a 5-cylinder engine, which helped in boosting performance greatly. The T25 had the engine and transaxle mounted very low in the back and had larger disc brakes in the front, and drums in the rear. The VW T25 campers came with power steering, power door locks, air conditioning, lighted vanity mirrors, electrically controlled and heated mirrors and a light above the glove box. VW T25 spare parts are available on many online shopping sites. |
