Vectra GSIThe Vectra is a large family car manufactured by Opel, GM’s European subsidiary in Rüsselsheim, Germany. In the U.K., it is sold as the Vauxhall Vectra. The first Vectra (Vectra A) was launched in 1988, in sedan and hatchback versions. Choices in the engine line-up initially included the 75 PS (55 kW) 1.4 L to a 130 PS (96 kW) 2.0 L Family II. Till 1995, the car was known as the Cavalier in the U.K. The second generation of the Vectra was launched in 1995. The model range extended to include the station wagon (estate) version. Additionally, Vectra launched sporting limited edition models including the i500, the Super Touring and the GSi. Only 3900 models were ever manufactured, mostly in saloon and hatchback versions. The car could accelerate to 60 mph in just about 7.6 seconds and could achieve a maximum speed of 148 mph. This car utilises SRi's sport chassis and lowered suspension. The Vauxhall Vectra GSi is powered by a 2.5L V6 engine that produces up to 195 bhp power output. It features Switchable traction control for smooth operations and anti-locking brakes for safe halts. To complete the sporty look, the car features Recaro seats, steering wheel with audio controls, trip computer and air conditioning. It’s also fitted with Trafficmaster, a satellite-aided system that can monitor traffic flow on major routes. Production of this car ceased in 2005. However, one can easily find used Vectra GSi models for sale via the Internet. |
