Volvo 240The Volvo 240 is part of the Volvo 200 series of saloon cars produced by Volvo between 1974 and 1993. The Volvo 240 had gained popularity for reliability and over 2.8 million 240s were sold in its 19 years of production. The vehicle was Volvo’s best-selling car from 1975 till 1982 in the United States; approximately one-third of these were Volvo 240 estates. The Volvo 240 Estates were equipped with large load spaces that could be outfitted with a rear-facing foldable jump seat in the passenger area, making it a seven-passenger vehicle. The jump seat came with three-point seat belts for safety purposes, protecting the occupants in the event of a rear-end collision. The Volvo 240 was launched in the autumn of 1974.
