XR2iThe XR2i was manufactured by Ford, one of the world’s leading automobile companies. The XR2i was available in Black, Radiant Red, Diamond White or Mercury Grey. This car utilised the last of the XR2 engines; these were the same engines used for a Ford Fiesta Mk 3 called the 1.6S. However, this time around these engines had new EFI fuel injection system and EEC-IV management. The XR2i had an exterior featuring a full bodykit replete with arch extensions, side skirts and new front and rear bumpers with integrated driving lamps in the front bumpers. The car also had the same tailgate spoiler as the 1.6S. XR2i production was ceased in 1992, followed by the launch of the emission compliant Zetec engined XR2i 16v. The XR2i 16v was launched in May, 1992. This car was powered by a 1800cc 16 valve 105ps (104bhp) Zetec engine from the Mk5 Escort XR3i. It utilised the same EEC-IV management as the Fiesta RST. Featuring trendier looks than the previous model, the car came with body-coloured wing mirrors and larger 14" alloy wheels. The car had revamped interiors such as black carpets, dashboard and trim parts. The 16v came with leather steering wheel and gearknob. The car had winged seats with supportive side and shoulder bolsters. Production of the XR2i 16v cars was ceased in 1993.
