XR3i

The XR3i is manufactured by Ford Motor Company and is a part of the range of Ford Escort models. The Ford Escort XR3 was launched before the Ford Escort XR3i. The XR3 was part of the third generation of Ford Escort cars. It made its debut in September 1980 in the category of small cars. The XR3 featured 1,597cc CVH engine with a twin choke DFT Weber carburettor. The car could produce 96bhp at a spindle speed of 6,000rpm. This car could provide a top speed of 113mph and could achieve 0-60 in 9.2 seconds.

The Ford Escort XR3i was first released in January 1983 and was built in Saarlouis, Germany. This car was much better than the XR3 as it had better handling and design. The Ford XR3i was fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system that provided 105bhp at 6,000rpm. The car could provide a top speed of 120mph and could cover 0-60 in around 8.5 seconds. In 1986, the Escort XR3i was completely revamped. It was fitted with new engine, new style alloy wheels and anti-lock brakes.

In 1991, the Ford Escort XR3i was available with 2 variants of the 1.8 litre Zetec engine. Later, in 1992, the Escort XR3i featured the VW AP 2.0L engine that could produce 115.5 hp / 86 kW.
