Adidas Superstar

Adidas is a renowned sports apparel and footwear manufacturer based at Herzogenaurach, Germany. It was established by Adolf (Adi) Dassler in the early 1920’s. The Adidas products feature 3 parallel stripes as their official logo. The company specializes in producing sports gear including trainers and football shoes for some of the biggest football teams in the world.

Adidas provides a vast range of trainers, footwear, clothing and accessories, which comprises of Adidas Gazelles, Stan Smith, Spezial, Chile, Campus, Micropacers and Superstar. The Superstar trainer is one of most popular product from Adidas. It was introduced in the year 1969 as the first low-top basketball shoe to be produced, and is popularly called "shell toe". It featured an all-leather upper and rubber shell toe, a feature that was incorporated to safeguard the toes of the players.

The Superstar was soon endorsed by the NBA players, and by the mid-’70’s it became extremely popular. Ever since, Adidas Superstar trainers have been in production they have been a favourite on the hip hop scene. The well-known rap group Run-DMC were among the most famous admirers of the Adidas Superstar shoes, and wore them in their trademark style of taking out the laces and putting the shoe tongue out. They even released a song "My Adidas", which further propelled the popularity of the shoe. In 2005, Adidas launched limited editions of the Superstar trainers to mark its 35th anniversary.
