Ann DemeulemeesterAnn Demeulemeester is a fashion designer known for simple and sophisticated silhouette designs. This influential designer was born in 1959 in Kortrijk, Belgium. Ann studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp till 1981. Ann Demeulemeester is referred to as a member of the 'Antwerp Six', a group of Belgian designers from the 1980s. A year after her graduation, she received the Gouden Spoel prize, an award that is given to the most promising and talented young fashion designer. Ann Demeulemeester made her debut at the London Fashion week in 1987, along with five of her fellow-students, who were part of the "Antwerp Six". Between 1987 and 1988, Ann Demeulemeester created Autumn/Winter fashion collection for women. She presented her solo collection of women’s wear in Paris in 1992. She started creating men’s wear since 1996. Her collection of men and women’s garments were showcased at Paris Fashion Week in 1996. In the same year, she received the Culture Award from the Belgian government for her contribution in the field of fashion. Her clothes are trendy and always in tune with the current fashion trends. She creates contrast in the clothes by using fabrics like fine leather and heavy wool that make the garments striking.
