Anna SuiWith some innovative clothing creations to her credit, Anna Sui could well be considered as one of the most talented fashion designers today. Born in 1964, in Detroit, Michigan in a Chinese immigrant family, she displayed glimpses into her future, even as a child, by dressing up her dolls and her neighbour’s toy soldiers for imaginary Oscar Awards ceremonies. Anna Sui fine-tuned her passion for fashion, when still in high school, by obtaining a scholarship to the New York-based, Parson’s School of Design. After graduation Anna Sui gained valuable experience with small-time sportswear manufacturers, resulting in her first runway show in 1991. The following year, she launched her own clothing line and launched her first boutique in New York’s Soho district. Her dedication to quality garnered a loyal customer following and within a few years, Anna Sui had more than 500 outlets spread across all the five continents, with the maximum concentration being in Japan. Anna’s popularity can be judged from the fact that her products are favoured by both celebrities as well as common people. Some of the world’s top models have walked the ramps in her creations. Anna Sui dresses are designed to render the wearer with a stylish look. She also has a wide array of designer shoes that incorporate velvet, patent leather and lizard skin as well as suede outers. The Sui perfumes and cosmetics line-up, as with all her other offerings, is claimed to accentuate plus points and camouflage any negatives. |
