Bape

Bape or Bathing Ape is a Japanese company that specialises in urban clothing. The company was started in the year 1993 by DJ Nigo, as a T-shirt brand. The brand name is derived from a common Japanese saying, "bathing in lukewarm water", which refers to the comfortable lifestyle of Japanese youngsters. The company’s logo and theme is based on the original Planet of the Apes movies. Bape has over 30 stores spread across Japan, Hong Kong, Taipei, London and New York.

The Bape clothing range includes shirts, sweatshirts, parkas, polos, denim and "Bape Stas"óshoes that are quite similar to Nike Air Force One. Additionally, other Bape products include belts and jackets. Some of the product offerings from Bape include Bape A Bathing Ape BBC Gold and Black T-shirt, Bape Hoody Milo Bathing Ape Jacket, Billionaire Boys Club BBC Bape T-shirt, Pink Animal Kingdom Baby Milo Bape Bathing Ape Hoody, etc. The range of Bape Sta shoes includes Bape Marvel Comics Series, Bape Sta Shelltoe, Bape Sta Special Edition, Bape Sta Roadsta among others.

Bape clothing is also worn by well-known rappers like Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, and Pharrell Williams. Pharrell Williams helped Nigo in adding the collection to the BBC or the Billionaire Boys Club. Baby Milo is another brand from Bape.
