BracesBraces or suspenders are designed to hold up pants or trousers. They are called braces because they brace or support trousers. Braces comprise a pair of elastic fabric straps that go over one’s shoulders and are attached to the trousers with the help of buttons or clips. Perry braces are attached to the trousers with the help of plastic hooks. Braces travel straight down at the front of the body, while at the back the straps are often crossed so that they don’t slide off the shoulder. Sometimes, the straps at the back have a y-shape, made by joining both straps together. This single strap is then attached from the back to the middle of the pants. Braces are also equipped with buckles that make the braces adjustable to one’s comfort. The common material used for making braces is elastic. Cotton braces and leather braces in different colours are also quite popular. Braces are available in different types of base lengths to adjust to different body types. Braces with trousers were quite popular in the late 19th and early 20th century. Although today braces are not quite in fashion, a few lawyers, businessmen and newscasters wear them to maintain an image or for comfort. Braces are available at specialised men’s clothing stores |
