Catsuit

A catsuit refers to a one-piece garment that is skin-fitting, comes with sleeves and has long legs. Although a more prevalent style is using a zip closure, there are other variants in necklines that one can find. The materials in which catsuits are available include leather, rubber/latex, PVC, velour and spandex. The catsuits can be dated back to the 1940s. Spandex is a widely used material for the construction of these catsuits, however, prior to the invention of spandex catsuits are stated to be made of probably hand knitted materials. Catsuits are often associated with fashion dressing and fancy dress costuming. Catsuits are usually worn during dance shows, rave parties, clubbing, gay parties, fetishist acts, etc.

Catsuits are used quite frequently in movies, videos as well as computer games. Some of the movies in which catsuits have been worn include Batman, Charlie's Angels, The Matrix Trilogy, Tomb Raider, X-Men, Kill Bill Volume 1 among others. In the Human Nature song video, one can find Madonna wearing a black PVC suit as well as in the "More Than A Woman" song video, Aaliyah wears a white leather catsuit.
