Comme des GarconsComme des Garcons, literally translated in French as ëLike Boysí, is a Japanese fashion label that was launched by Rei Kawakubo. The brand has a significant international footprint with nearly 200 vendors across the globe. Comme des Garcons is quite successful in Japan since its launch. In 1981, the brand was launched in Paris, which generated a storm over the use of black and distressed fabrics. The clothes were quite iconoclastic having monochromed asymmetrical shapes draped around the body. They debuted when the notion of beautiful clothing still was centred on vibrant colours and sexy fits. Some of the items were avant-garde like three-armed jackets, face-shielding turtlenecks, form-fitting gingham numbers, etc. The present collections available from the Comme des Garcons are more in line with contemporary styling. The products line-up includes silver-flecked tweeds, shirts, Rolling Stone tongue patterns and floral-motif dresses. The brandís perfumes also echo the brandís philosophy of being unconventional. The Odeur 53 is an anti-perfume that blends in 53 notes like oxygen, mineral carbon, sand dunes, nail polish, cellulose, pure air of the high mountains, burnt rubber, etc. to create novelty. Comme des Garcons owns Guerrilla stores, which are created to exist for a year only. Not much money is spent on these storesí interiors and these stores are located far away from any fashion hubs. One might get the Comme des Garcons clothing at cheaper rates online due to sales and discount offers by several retailers. |
