Emo ShoesEmo, a slang term derived from the word "emotional", is used to describe a fashion derived from gothic fashion and punk fashion or subcultures. This term had developed in the 1980s to describe the punk music genre, in Washington D.C. As time passed by, it started to have a broader meaning and is now generally interpreted as "rock music with emotionally-based lyrics or effect". The early bands tagged as emo include Rites of Spring, Embrace and Fugazi. However, later on, emo was used to describe fashion and personality of a person as well as a music genre. Emo fashion includes tight jeans and shirts with the names of rock bands. Emo fashion usually includes straightened hair with long fringes, usually brushed to one side of the face, studded belts, belt buckles, Chuck Taylor All-Stars rubber shoes, skate shoes, or other black old and beaten up shoes, and thick glasses with black frames. Chuck Taylor shoes and other copies of these shoes are still popular in the U.K. market, especially after the availability of these shoes in different colours and the use of stylised shoelaces as well as through drawings on the rubberised parts. Nowadays, with changing trends, emo styles, too, have undergone transformations. Emo shoes now include more than just skate shoes, Chuck Taylor shoes or black shoes; various colours and different patterns and designs are available in emo shoes like old school vans and old school pumas and more. These shoes are highly popular with teenage girls, and include many drawings/writings on the shoes, mismatching laces or odd looking ones. |
